Did Texas buy better representation than Alaska?

During the 2004 election cycle, 91% of Don Young’s reported political donations came from people living outside Alaska:

· Political contributors from Texas ($264,000), Virginia ($306,000), and Washington DC ($494,000) exceeded the contributions from Young’s constituents in Alaska ($234,000).

· Young pulled in funding from California ($205,000) and Washington ($213,000) rivaling his political contributions from Alaskans ($234,000).

· Out of $2.73 million in total political donations, Young collected $2.5 million from 2,380 out-of-state contributors

· Young "only" collected $234,000 from 450 Alaska based contributors.
