Don Young supports earmarks, wasteful spending, and political favoritism When Don Young bothered to cast a vote*, he supported 94% of the pork barrel earmarks that came before him – based on the Club for Growth’s “RePork Card” project. This report card “grades” members of Congress based on their wasteful spending habits. See the “Club for Growth” homepage. Don Young supported Club for Growth positions just 52% and 59% of the time in 2005 and 2006, respectively. Earmarks allow the infamous "favor factory", a term coined by Young's convicted associate Jack Abramoff, to thrive. During last
year’s votes under the RePork Card project, Don Young angrily lashed out. The pro-business
Club for Growth responded to Young’s tirade by asking if he’s going
to start biting people - click to watch this
debacle on their web site. According to the Club for Growth’s
President Pat Toomey "Unfortunately, most Congressmen care more
about lining their buddies' pockets than they care about protecting
American taxpayers."
